CRT & TV, The recycling process.
CRTs & TVs are transported to our secure storage facility which is located in Stourbridge in the West Midlands & is registered with the Environment Agency. Once received the CRTs & TVs are booked in & grouped together with other CRTs & TVs ready for dispatch to our third party AATF (Approved Authorised Treatment Facility) which is also based in Stourbridge West Midlands.
Once received at the AATF (Approved Authorised Treatment Facility).
The real science behind the recycling process begins, our AATF (Approved Authorised Treatment Facility) has developed a unique solution to separate the lead (Pb) from the leaded glass structure in cathode ray tubes (CRTs), which are found in televisions and computer monitors.
After careful dismantling, the plastic carcass surrounding your screen is recycled using established routes. The metallic components, e.g. copper yoke, shadow mask and circuit boards are stripped away and sent for precious, ferrous and non-ferrous metal recovery.
The rear of the tube containing the leaded funnel and neck glass is separated from the lead free panel glass , ensuring no cross contamination of the two different glass types.
The Panel has the phosphor coating removed and is separately treated leaving a clean glass ready for reuse.
The leaded glass is crushed and processed in our electrolytic converter. The process results in two distinct re-usable streams of clean, molten glass and lead. Both can be immediately re-used as valuable raw materials with no further processing.
ALL our WEEE, Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment is processed within the UK. We do not export to third world country's.
